Now, the new film "Crossings" looks back at an international effort of women activists to end the conflict on the Korean peninsula.
In 2015, 30 women from across the world walked across the Demilitarized Zone in a highly publicized, and criticized, call for peace. The Conversation spoke with organizer Christine Ahn and activist and physician Kalama Niheu, both of whom appear in the film, about its Hawaiʻi ties. Ahn spearheaded the crossing in 2015.
"Crossings" premiered as part of the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival, and is available to stream online until Nov. 28 for Hawaiʻi residents. This interview aired on The Conversation on Nov. 15, 2021.
