WOMEN CROSS DEMILITARISED ZONE (DMZ) ON KOREAN PENINSULA FOR PEACE

On 24 May 2015, the International Women’s Day for Peace and Disarmament, approximately 30 women from 15 countries crossed the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), which serves as a buffer between North Korea and South Korea, and made a powerful call for peace in the Korean Peninsula.

Gloria Steinem, peace activists cross Demilitarized Zone separating Koreas

Feminist icon Gloria Steinem along with a group of 30 women peace activists crossed the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone that separates North and South Korea on Sunday, in what organizers called a “symbolic act of peace” meant to encourage dialogue and reunification between the two countries.
