Celebrating Korea Peace Highlights of 2024! ✨

December 27, 2024

Posted in: Newsletters

As we close out this year, we would like to share some of our Korea Peace highlights from 2024. None of this would be possible without your support, so please consider an end-of-year donation to sustain our movement’s momentum in 2025!

Here’s a recap of all we accomplished in 2024:

? We reached over 10,000 readers and organized dozens of actions across the country. Our movement grows everyday, from Atlanta, Pacific Northwest, Honolulu, LA, SF Bay Area, Texas, Chicago, Boston, NY, Philadelphia, Washington, DC to Guåhan! We are multigenerational Korean Americans, humanitarian workers, faith leaders, anti-war activists, veterans, community organizers, all advocating for an end to the Korean War.

? Education: Our grassroots meetings and webinars spanned critical topics like “The Gendered Impact of the Korean War” with trailblazing feminist scholars: Professors Suzy Kim, Na-Young Lee, and Ji-Yeon Yuh. We also heard from Kihye Jeon Hong, award-winning journalist and president of South Korean news outlet, the Pressian, and Becky Belcore, co-director of NAKASEC. Thank you also to our Intergenerational Learning & Healing Series speakers!

? Advocacy: We achieved the highest ever number of congressional co-sponsors for Korea peace legislation, H.R. 1369, the Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act! We credit our grassroots network: over 200 people participated in our Korea Peace Advocacy Week 2024.

? Narrative Change: We’ve appeared on major media and our op-eds have been published in national and international newspapers reaching millions to calling on the U.S. to end the 74 year “forgotten war” with a lasting peace agreement.

Our work depends on our community’s support. Please help sustain our movement and donate generously! And if you cannot donate, please share this with someone in your life who can. Donate here.

The year ahead will bring new opportunities and challenges. Whatever arises, we are ready to spring into action and mobilize our community. See you in 2025 — our action continues!

In peace,

Women Cross DMZ
